Magnus Bjarnason, Executive Vice President of International Banking, Glitnir Bank
Magnus Bjarnason, was born August 19th, 1963 and educated in Iceland and the United States of America. He holds an MBA degree from Thunderbird, Garvin School of International Management. Mr. Bjarnason joined Glitnir in 2005 as the Managing Director of Corporate and Investment Banking for region Asia and America and in the beginning of 2007 he was appointed as the Executive Vice President of International Banking.
Mr. Bjarnason served as Minister Counsellor and Deputy Chief of Mission at the Icelandic Embassy in China 2003-05, where he worked on business development for Bakkavor, Enex and Icealndair amoung others. He was the Trade Commissioner for Iceland in the USA and Canada 1997-2003 and Acting Consul General in New York 2000-2003.
He worked for Landsbanki Islands in corporate credit for seafood customers, Eagle Air Domestic and Icelandoil in Reykjavik prior to joining the Foreign Service in 1996.
Mr. Bjarnason taught International Marketing at the College of Engineering in Reykjavik 1993-1996 and has consulted number of companies in international trade and business.
Mr. Bjarnason is married to Anna Sveinsdottir, pre schoolteacher and they have four children, Erla Karen, Bjarni, Gustav Arnar and Victor Karl.
