Paul Brophy, President, EGS Inc.

Paul Brophy is President of EGS Inc. and has over 35 years worldwide experience in the field of energy and natural resources, of which 25 years has been in the geothermal industry. His general focus has been the geologic assessment of geothermal projects both during exploration and development phases, with particular emphasis on understanding the relationships between geothermal resources and their structural setting and geophysical responses.

As a resource geologist he was District Geologist for California Energy Co. Inc. (Calenergy) during the early development of the 240 MWe Coso Geothermal Project and with that organization completed many geothermal assessments throughout the western U.S. As a Principal with EGS Inc he has been responsible evaluating a number of geothermal projects including management of all geothermal exploration activities for Soufriere Energy on the island of St. Vincent in the Carribean.

Mr Brophy has an extensive knowledge of federal and California state requirements for natural resource projects and has contributed geologic, volcanic hazards, hydrologeology and geothermal resource components to many regulatory and environmental documents. He has published papers and made numerous international presentations relating to geothermal and renewable energy development in countries such as Costa Rica, Russia, Peru, Chile, and the Philippines. Mr. Brophy has been a frequent peer reviewer for the U.S Department of Energy, Geothermal Technologies Program.

r Brophy is currently the President of the Geothermal Resources Council (2007-2008) and has served on its Board of Directors since1995. He also serves on the Executive Board of the California Geothermal Energy Collaborative and on the Board of Directors of the International Geothermal Association. He is a registered Professional Geologist and certified Hydrogeologist in the state of California
