Margaret Rueger, Babcock & Brown
Margaret Rueger‘s focus at Babcock & Brown is in the financing, acquisition and
development of renewable energy projects, an area where Babcock & Brown is a global
industry leader.
Margaret’s broad base of experience in the energy sector includes project origination,
development and finance as well as regulatory affairs, environmental permitting and
resource planning. This experience was gained working with the full range of technology
types including geothermal, wind, gas-fired cogeneration, biomass, solar and energy
efficiency.
Previously, Margaret worked in the origination, development and financing of renewable
energy and energy efficiency projects at Kenetech Corporation, a renewable energy
project developer, construction contractor, O&M provider, and wind turbine
manufacturer. While she was at Kenetech, the company developed over 1000MW of
wind energy projects, including the first commercial wind farm in the US. Prior to that,
she worked at the Pacific Gas & Electric Company in electric generation planning,
regulatory affairs and the negotiation of Power Purchase Agreements with independent
energy producers. She also worked at Woodward Clyde Consultants on the site
selection and permitting of power plants.
Margaret was a member of the board of directors for a leading Spanish/US wind energy
joint venture company as well as various effective and highly regarded renewable
energy industry associations. Margaret has a Bachelor of Arts degree in Environmental
Studies from the University of California and is based in Babcock & Brown’s San
Francisco office.
