Rick Thomas, Vice President of Development, Calpine Corporation 

Rick Thomas is a Vice President of Development for Calpine Corporation, one of the nation’s largest clean energy power companies. Mr. Thomas is responsible for the development, acquisition and project financing for Calpine’s Western Region, including natural gas-fired and renewable geothermal energy centers. Since joining Calpine in 1999, Mr. Thomas has helped developed, and is currently developing, several major power generation projects, representing more than 5,500 megawatts of clean, reliable and cost-effective capacity in the Western U.S. During his 30-year career in the power industry, he has served in senior management positions for several major power and financial institutions. Mr. Thomas holds a bachelor’s of science degree in economics from New Mexico State University and a master’s of business development from the University of New Mexico.
