The Heber Geothermal Plant began commercial operation in 1985. The facility is the largest dual-flash geothermal steam plant in the United States, producing electricity by means of a Mitsubishi turbine-generator.
This electricity is sold to Southern California Edison. Heber Field Company supplies the facility with steam and brine from 11 artesian, slant-drilled wells, which can produce more than 8 million pounds of brine-steam mixture per hour.
Heber is part of the Heber Complex, which includes Heber, Heber 2, Gould, and Heber South. The total output of the Heber Complex is approximately 92 MW.
