This plant was the first constructed in Nevada under the Nevada RPS legislation. It is the first new plant built in Nevada in more than a decade. In honor of Governor Kenny Guinn’s late energy advisor, Richard “Dick” Burdette Jr., the plant was renamed.

Richard Burdett is part of Ormat’s Steamboat Complex, which includes the following geothermal plants: Steamboat 1, Steamboat 1A, Steamboat 2, Steamboat 3, Richard Burdette, Steamboat Hills, Galena 2, and Galena 3.
